Decentralized Waste Water Treatment Solutions

In cooperation with our German Technology Partner LKT are we specialized in decentralized waste water treatment solutions for domestic and commercial waste water applications. Our key focus lies on residential compounds, hospitals, hotels and resorts, shopping malls, airports, railways stations, schools, universities and office buildings.

A decentralized waste water treatment system has two main pillars,

investment- and maintenance cost reduction of centralized sewer networks. Of course, decentralization it is not a replacement of a central waste water treatment system, but it has to be understood as a supplementary component to achieve an economical balance between financial constraints and full scale environmental protection.

It is the most economical solution in suburbs and rural areas with villages of up to 2000 inhabitants. One or more small waste water treatment plants and a smaller sewer network, connecting only estates of the village to the plant, are sufficient. In special cases even several smaller plants for 4 – 50 PE’s could be installed, if those estates are even too far away to be connected to a local sewer network.

Another important pillar of decentralized waste water treatment is the recycling of treated waste water. This is much more difficult to achieve with centralized treatment systems, as they not only receive domestic waste water but as well industrial waste water and more importantly contain of numerous uncontrolled concentrations of heavy metals and various other pollutants, which are very hard to forecast in existence and amount during the design stage of the plant and are therefore very difficult to clean at a later stage.

Decentralized treatment systems, receiving waste water from smaller connected areas, which are more predictable in terms of existing pollutants in the waste water, are supporting the reuse of cleaned waste water to a much higher degree on an economical scale, as here the waste water treatment can be adapted more easily to the intended re use options in the specific areas.

Purified and disinfected waste water from decentralized plants can be used for irrigation purposes, e.g. farmland watering, garden watering, toilet flushing water. The activated sludge, as a result of our biological treatment, is suitable as a natural soil fertilizer.

Especially in areas with a long dry period and low ground water level or even high salt concentrations in the ground water, mainly the costal areas, can benefit from the re-use of treated waste water, if it becomes part of an integrated concept for water management systems. Today drinking water is used not only for human consumption but to flush toilets, watering of plants, flowers and farmland, which is draining our drinking water supply to an unnecessary extent.
